Amazing scenary!
This was from our ferry ride on the way to phi phi Hi everyone,
We have had a change of scenary from chiang mai, feels like we left ages ago but hasnt actually been that long. We have been island hopping for the last week and a half. Started off in Phi Phi which was great fun. Amazing beach and fun night life, obviously totally packed with tourists! We went on a sun set cruise to Monkey Island and met some not so nice monkeys, when the fruit ran out for them one monkey attched itself to a girls hair and wouldt let go! they got vicious! Did lots of snorkling and canoeing and went to where the movie the beach was filmed to watch the sun set. Just my luck it started to rain and we stayed in the water coz it was much warmer!
After Phi Phi we went to Ko Lanta, which is a larger but not to popular island. It was much more relaxed. We had some great bungalows right on the beach. Made friends with some/lots of South Africans through a school friend of Mishs. Coz of them we had another only in thailand night. We met at their bungalows co we were meant to be going
Phi Phi view point
This required a 30 min steep hike up hill, Mish and i almost died but happy we made it! to a party at "view point". First of all the arranged taxis didnt show, then only oe did and they tried to make us fit 18 poeple if a ute, comfy (for the same price)! Finally another car showed up so we were on our way and settled in for a 45 min drive to this viewpoint....when we got there there was no party on, had been cancellled ...we are fairly convinced the drivers would have known this. one of the cars left and we had no option ut to all pack into one car to take us back, got dropped off at some random bar closer to home...turned into a fun night for Alana who had the first massive spew of the trip!! Luckily she had the 3 of us to hold her hair back.
One of the best things we have done so far was going caving!! Took 30 min to hike through the jungle to these caves in Lanta. Each with our cool head lights on! then 1 hour to crawl and climb our way through these pitch black caves. It was sooo much fun. came out the other side covered in mud and exhausted but
mmmm hot and sweaty
Me on return to ground level from the view point...need water well worth it.
After Lanta we went to Railay beach, another island which was a ferry and a long boat away. Railay was absolutely stunning!! It had massive lime stone cliffs and amazing beaches. It was meant to be really expensive but we managed to find a room at a resort all 4 of us could share quite economically. Felt like we were in luxury with our own pool, right next to one of these amazing cliffs. The night life left a bit to be desired and for 3 nights we ended u at the same bar. Also knew some Aussies from South Caulfield staying at same place to go out with, what a small world!
After our 3 nights we had a very early start...had to meet at 6.30am which felt great after getting to bed about 4am! to travel over to the east side of thailand to Ko Phangan....
Arrived without too much drama and had already prepared oursleves by reading the weather report...no more sunshine for us!! quite depressing that the tans we put so much work into are fading fast! It is a lot quieter here than it was last year. So really having
Scary monkeys
These are the evil monkeys, Jessie looks terrified! it tough and sleeping in and eating really good falafel...good shopping here too.
Very sad coz this is Alana's last night with us =( she heads home tomorrow.
Mish, Jessie and I are off to Samui tomorrow to meet other physios who have been travelling in Asia for a very merry Christmas..then Jessie and i head to the UK on new years eve, cant believe how quickly the summer is going!
Have a very very merry christmas and new years, enjoy the break!!!!! missing you all!!
Love liz
