Longtail boats
starting our james bond tour! sa wat dee,
After 7 hours on the minibus, we pulled up in Krabi town at the bus station but nothing was that close by, so we booked into some hotel that the bus station had suggested and got taken to it. We hadn't really read up on Krabi but we were expecting more of a beach town. But looking around, it didn't seem it and it was raining! Although the hotel was really nice. We thought we would do a quick read up on the internet about Krabi, as we had heard so much good stuff about it, so we wanted to know where it was. One thing it is famous for is it's limestone rock formations. We realised we had to go to either Ao nang or Railly, which were both 30 minutes away.
So, first thing the next day we headed to Ao nang. We just flagged down a little minibus, for 200 baht each on the road. FANTASTIC! When we jumped out 30 minutes later we were really pleased with the area, it was busy, lots of shops, longtail boats on the beach waiting to take tourists to the surrounding areas and lots of places

You get splashed quite a bit, but good fun. to eat and drink. Not everyones paradise but we quite like somewhere that has a bit more going on. After walking in the boiling heat to find somewhere to stay, we eventually found somewhere to stay up this little alley called Amorn mansion. The rooms were really clean and modern and only 900 baht a night, in comparison to the 1200baht + everywhere else had been saying. We have been finding it's not all that cheap, so our funds have been thrown all over the place.
We couldn't resist a few more buys while in Ao nang, there was almost as much as Bangkok for cheap fakeys! We purchased two amazing paintings, that in England would cost a fortune. Rob got a vinnie Jones one from Lock stock, and i got one of this girls eyes from Iraq. It's quite famous although it sounds weird. That night although it had been a boiling hot day, it looked like the weather was going to change. It got a bit stormy with fantastic flashes of lightning, all while we were trying shark for dinner!
The next day, we went on a tour to the famous James Bond island, where parts

..the mangrove is behind the boat. of 'the man with the golden gun' was filmed. We took a longtail boat to it and had a bout an hour to take photos and look around. It was cool but the amount of tourists, (literally boat loads!) were on this tiny beach snapping away. The locals had already realised the money making oppurtunity to be had, so a row of little shops was also crammed on! On the tour we met sisters Emma and Fea from Stockholm in Sweden. they were really lovely girls, so that evening we met up for a couple of drinks. On the main street if you go down between the shops, behind them is a row of bars (like a whole new road). So, we headed to the AC bar where you get given connect four and jenga to play while you are having a drink. Rob is surprisingly good at connect four! Devestated!
Out on the main street on the beach front, there is always these two guys trying to plant either a cameleon or an actual chimp on you for photos and then charge you. (Lisa i'm thinking of you - it beats parrots!) We didn't get caught but we

..there hung up everywhere for some reason! saw lots of dazed other people get ripped off. The next day we chilled out at the beach for a while, but because the water was so dirty, we went for a walk. At the end of the beach there is a walkway, leading around the bay to another beach, but at the bottom there are lots of monkeys that everyone is feeding. Some stories we have heard about monkeys attacking people, scared us a bit. But, we got passed unscathed and climbed these steep wooden steps and walked for about 10 minutes around to the next beach. When we got there, it turned out to be a private beach that belonged to a hotel, so we had to sign in and out of the beach!
Eventually we had had enough, so headed back to the hotel and we still had a few chores to do - even out here! On the way we booked up to get to Phuket and also for Han to go horseriding on the beach. One thing we are getting into eating is Thai pancakes, which they make with a dough like pizzas but much thinner. There really good so whenever we pass a
camel island..
..i think its obvious why! stall we seem to stop for one! We had to go to the postoffice to send some stuff home and it's tradition to take your flipflops off before you go inside anywhere, however when we came back out of the post office, we couldn't see Robs flipflops anywhere! We couldn't believe someone had stolen them! So he had to walk barefoot back on gravelly pavements! It was all the more funnier because of what happened to him on Ko chang, so he's now down to just 1 pair!
Horseriding was brilliant, although when we went to gallop on the beach, the horse i was on started to head toss and rear a little. Always me! But it was good fun, Rob was the photographer although i was close to getting him on!!haha.
The next morning, we were up and ready to go to Phuket. But, we weren't sure if we would like it...
Until next time party on!
Han and Rob
