On Tuesday we had to check out of our room in Koh Tao early. Justin decided he was going to hire a bike and explore the island and wanted to see some friends he had meet when we were in Koh Samet. We were still having breakfast when he left, he gave us the money to book the night ferry and bus to take us to Krabi this evening and he said he would be back between 6pm and 8pm. When we booked it we were told that we get picked up at 7.30pm, so after a discussion with Erica and Rich we all agreed to book it rather than have to spend another night here.
Erica, Rich, Dan and I relaxed on the beach, at midday Dan left us to head back to
Bangkok to collect his bank cards from the embassy.
When the taxi came to pick us up at 7.45 there was still no sign of Justin, so we left a note for him explaining that we had to leave and he should make his way to the pier before 8.30pm and we would be looking out for him. About 8.20pm we spotted him, we had
reserved a bed for him and explained to the staff that he was running late. He walked on the boat with an attitude, clearly not impressed with us for leaving without him. He took his shoes off and threw them on the floor, so I thought it was best to leave him alone for a while. Erica, Rich and I played cards and after an hour Justin still hadn’t really spoken to any one other than to express his anger. So I made the first mood and spoke to him, telling him our side of the story which was that he shouldn’t have left before we booked it and he should have come back earlier as he was cutting it fine.
We arrived in Ao Nang on Wednesday afternoon, Rich wasn’t feeling too well and hadn’t got much sleep on the boat and Justin was still sulking so it was all good! We tried a few guest houses but they were either full or too expensive. We did find one cheap one but it was disgusting, so we then found a moderately priced one which had air con, towels and a hot shower, beauty!
Once we
had checked in Erica and I just chilled in our room for a while, glad of the peace and quiet. We then went out and had some girlie time in a bar next to the beach and wished each other a happy Valentines Day.
In the evening we all went out and had an OK time, there was a few misunderstandings but it all ended with a group hug, followed by a trip to MacDonald’s and then a visit to the beach with a bottle of Sangsom.
Dan was supposed to be arriving in Krabi on Thursday morning. However I woke up to a text saying he had missed his flight from Bangkok. So after breakfast the four of us caught a long tail boat to Railay Beach, which is just a few bays down from Ao Nang, where we met Pete (Bristol). He was traveling with Zig, Charlie’s brother but was now on his own after an incident on Koh Tao. This incident happened at the beach party and involved Zig jumping off the stage and impaling himself on some scaffolding, silly boy! So he is now in hospital on Koh Samui and having to go to theatre to have an exploration of his wound site. Wish I could see how they do things in theatre here! Anyway we met Pete and we all arranged to travel to Phuket together the following day. Dan was in touch again and managed to get a later flight and was landing this evening, so I rang Lee and he arranged some accommodation for all 6 of us (Pete, Rich, Justin, Dan, Erica and I).
We went back to Ao Nang in time for me to keep my dental appointment, not fillings I decided to treat myself to laser whitening, so much cheaper here than back home. So after an uncomfortable hour and half I returned to the group with my list of foods that I can and cannot have for the next 24 hours.
Rich, Erica and I went out to eat, we left Justin on the internet and we found an Irish bar that served the bland food I was able to eat. You won’t be surprised to hear that we then went for a couple of drinks. Dan rang me when he arrived so I went to met him and collected Justin before returning to the bar where Erica and Rich were. We decided to go to the bar we were in the previous night and on the way saw a man being beaten with a chair and a bottle. Once the attackers fled I ran to help the man who had blood pouring from his face, i threw my phone at Erica to ring for help, but none of us knew what number to dial. He didn't answer me when i spoke to him, I couldn't make out whether it was because he wasn't English or if it was due to his injuries. I eventualy managed to get some people to help me put him on in the recovery postition and i lifted his chin just before the ambulance came.
The rest of the night entailed of more alcohol in the form of vodka buckets and a night club!
