We spent the first 2 days exploring the interesting sois and bustling streets of the old quarter. Our guesthouse is tucked away in quiet spot but only a short stroll to where the action is. Unfortunately there's a little massage place about 3 strides from the front gate..... 150 baht for an hour is the going rate. Anya dropped in on the first day to make sure it was ok then Jasper and Phoebe tried it out the next day! The massage ladies thought they were very cute and needless to say the kids loved it. We went to the Night Bazaar that evening and bartered like crazy for a few hours...pretty exhausting but we made it home by midnight with a few bargains in tow.
The next morning I introduced the kids to Temple Todd. Temple Todd is an old friend of mine from days gone by. Temple Todd lives, breathes, photographs, reads history of, and plans to spend hours at a time visiting temples. Temple Todd planned a walking tour around the old city so we set off with camera in hand and had a

lovely morning exploring the 3 main Wats in the old city. The kids were really interested and they both took some great photos. In one of the temples we gave merit to our loved ones who had passed away and the kids dropped coins into a series of bowls as they remembered certain people. It was really special. They also released some caged birds to bring good luck, although I'm not sure that it woud bring much good luck to the poor birds who probably get recaptured and sold off to the next group of gullible tourists! Sorry birds.
After covering a lot of ground on the walking tour we retreated to the guesthouse where the kids had swim in the freezing pool, then headed out into the sois for dinner. Phoebe has decided spring rolls are always the way to go...and there aren't any arguments from the rest of us!
