After our mega busy day on Friday we decided to have a lie in, lazt breakfast and lie by the pool on Saturday morning and make the most of the hotel (thanks Mum) seeing as it is going to be hostels and guesthouses (or huts?!) from now on. In the afternoon we mooched around a few shops and then got ourselves to Bangkok train station to catch the overnight sleeper train to Chiang Mai.
We were both a bit nervous about what to expect but apart from the toilets (I won't go into detail but hole in the ground to the train tracks gives you an idea) it was actually really comfortable...it just took 16 hours! We've made it here though and found a decent guesthouse without too much stress. First impression is that Chiang Mai is much quieter and less dirty than Bangkok but we are off to explore shortly so I guess I will know more then!!
Intending to do a hill tribe trek on Tuesday and Wednesday and then we need to work out how to get across the border into Laos! Exciting!!
