Chiang Mai
This is the view of Chiang Mai city from Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep Chiang Mai and the Golden Triangle
Today we are sitting in Chiang Rai after a few eventful days in the north of Thailand. We arrived in Bangkok on Saturday night and then flew to Chiang Mai on Sunday morning.
Chiang Mai is an easy going city and fun to visit. We spent Sunday afternoon exploring before heading to the hotel pool to cool off. We explored the Sunday markets after dinner and had a foot massage and Gary tried some of the food from the street stalls.
On Monday morning we explored by tuk tuk and did a little shopping in the silver factory and the silk factory. We also enjoyed the wood carving factory and found a few items for our future house (these involve a trip back to Thailand).
In the afternoon we joined a tour to the Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep and the Hmong village. We went looking for a waterfall at the Hmong village and managed to walk to the middle of nowhere with the guide getting rather worried. When we made it make to the village everyone was laughing at us. The Buddist temple was on a large hill over looking Chiang
Mai so we got a great view of the city.
Yesterday we did a tour to the Golden Triangle - where Thailand, Myanmar & Laos meet. We spent the night in Chiang Rai and visited the night market.

Sounds like fun!
Hey travellers - sounds like you guys are having an awesome time. Glad I'm not the only one that has issues with directions :-) The Golden Triangle must have been pretty cool to visit - do they let you stand so you are kind of in all three countries at once? And I could definitely do with a foot massage. Take care, Katy xox
