Organic Farm
Where they go all their own veggies Woke up nice and early for my flight to Chiang Mai from Singapore.
Boarded our Tiger Airways flight (YES Mum it even had engines!!! lol)
Was lucky enough to get an exit row - only down side to this, is that the seats don't recline.
Was only a 3 hour flight so I could survive!
Quite comfortable, surprised me actually how comfy it was!! A lot of budget airlines are the pits!!
Arrived smack bang on time in Chiang Mai. Got through customs very quickly. It actually took longer to get our bags.
Temperate in Chiang Mai was very comfortable, none of that energy sucking humidity like Singapore.
Caught a cab to my guesthouse, was about a 15/20 minute journey I think. I never know as I don't wear a watch anymore lol
Cost me 120 Baht for a private taxi (not metered). Talk about luxury, got transported in a brand new HUGE Toyota 4X4...was very flash!!
ACCOMMODATION: Arrived at the CM Blue House to be greeted by T&T (Tim & Tony) Aloha guys if your reading this *waving madly*!!!
What can I say - I fell in love with this place and the people running it!!
Our class
Get Ready.... Simple, clean accommodation - what more could you want?!?!
First night was a challenge though hehe
I'm am so not use to the hardness of the beds in Thailand, so between tossing and turning all night because my hips hurt and thinking we were in the middle of a torrential downpour because I could hear all this water.
Silly me - as it dawns on me at 4am that it’s the big water feature outside about 5 metres away from my window DUH!!!
Very soothing and relaxing to lie on the bed and listen to the water!!
Always got served with a smile and left with a great big hug and a kiss on the cheek.
You soon feel very close to the people there.
Tim is such a character!!! Highly recommend to go and have a drink at their other place called Rama's guesthouse. They have a bar there and Tim is certainly entertaining to watch while he 'serves' at the bar. Between all the pool playing and dancing!!! lmao
I only managed to get there on my last night in town and only stayed for a little while. If only I had gone down there sooner,
it was a hoot. Great music, great entertainment and great company!!
Food > Great, yummy breakfast and lunch!!!
Whenever I return to Chiang Mai, I certainly will be staying here again. Hopefully guys you will see me again soon.
REET> I'll try and leave them in one piece if I get back there again at the end of January. Hopefully they will have enough strength again for you to party hard lol
COOKING CLASS Was picked up at 9am and loading into the back of a dual cab 4x4 that has a cover on the back and bench seats. Not to bad, a bit of a climb up though.
First stop was the markets. We had a quick lesson on the different types of rice and what they are used for. Had a crash course in some of the herbs.
We then had 15 minutes to roam around and have a look. I had some warning about these kinds of markets, to actually see it in the flesh is something else.
I do struggle with the smells. I have a particularly keen nose to smells and it doesn't take much to turn my stomach. Visually I usually o.k.
- Its just smell.
I saw live frogs being clubbed on the head, live fish having the same treatment - it was the frogs that got to me and seeing a chicken being killed and plucked half alive! The rest I will leave to your imagination - I know my mum is reading this lmao
Off we go again for about a 30 minute drive into the country. Was a very nice drive out there and we saw many animals too. Water buffalo, dogs, chickens, goats, cows....haven't seen a horse yet lol
Arrival at the school and we get shown around the property where they grow all their vegetables and herbs. Great set up and very informative!!
We got shown how to make a proper Thai red curry, very hot but YUMMO!!!
Red curry Chicken
Also chicken with cashew nuts
Sticky rice with mango
Papaya salad (extremely HOT)
Was a full day and I didn't get back to the guesthouse until 5/5.30pm. A great day and well worth 900 Baht (approx $32.00AUD).
