Dear All,

We are having a great time in Chiang Mai and we are sorry to do this by email (we would love to phone you all individually but the pennies are tight!) but we have some very exciting news.................................................................................................................

.....................................................Mike proposed yesterday!!

We are both very excited. Here is the story... We spent the day north of Chaing Mai in the jungle, elephant riding, jungle trekking, visiting hill tribes and white water rafting. We had great fun and near the end of the day we went bamboo rafting. This is where you sit on strips of bamboo all tied together (imagine a bamboo gondola) and cruise very slowly down a river, it was really relaxing and peaceful. Mike decided to ask there and then. Of course I said yes! He even tried to stand up on the raft and go down on one knee (almost falling in!!). Unfortunatly due to the water we were not allowed to take our camera along the river so there are no photos of that but we have included some others of yesterday.

After spending 2 hours calling the family, who were thrilled and not at all surprised we went out to a nice hotel with some friends for champagne then onto a bar for cocktails. It was a great night. Today we had a lie in, breakfast in bed and later we are off on a mammoth bus journey to Cambodia.

We are both so excited and really happy. We can't wait to celebrate with you all when we are home in 2 weeks.
