Hey hey,

Woke up this morning after only 2 hours sleep, and it wasn't through wild nights out or anything i just couldnt sleep for some reason. Last night we explored a bit off Kho Sahn Road for some food but gave that up when the signs for the food shops stopped giving english translations and the streets got a litle darker! In the end settled for a Steak and Banana Split Not really making an effort to try new things i know, but i was starving after the walking!

This morning we decided to say Bye to Bangkok and head to Ayuthya, its about a 1 and half hour train journey from BK- the ticket only cost 15baht, so 20pence or so and it was quite an experience. It was just Me, Jonny, Will, some random old German guy who we keep bumping into and loads of locals. It was a bit uncomfortable having to move our backpacks everytime someone else got on the train. there are also people constantly going up the aisle selling cold drinks and meat on a stick Seriously though most of the street food is really nice and safe.

Ayuthya used to be the capital city of Thailand before Bangkok- It is basically an island surrounded by a river, the train station is on the other side so we had to pay about 3p to get the short ferry across from the station to the city. On wandering about looking for hostels, very sweaty and hot, a random truck pulled up and said theyd take us to a hostel, it happened to be one we were looking for anyway so we jumped right in the back just in time for the truck toset off, sending me and my bag flying!!

The PU Guesthouse is really nice and only 200 baht a night each, with its own restaurant and bar. We got chatting to this American couple who looked in their late thirties but apparently they were older than they looked- We spoke to them for four hours!?!?! They were absolutely fascinating, basically they set off travelling from Arizona 4 years ago on their bicycles and havent stopped since- theyve got a website called www.downtheroad.org , and afford their travel by publishing a book on their travels via the web. They told us a story about when they were in remote China with their Cameras, passing what they thought was a university, it was actually a military base and they were surrounded by guns and taken into custody on suspicion of spyingeventually they were released only to find themselves being followed for the next feew days!!

Me, Jonny and Will headed out into Ayuthya at 8ish and followed some music that was playing. The city is nowhere near as hectic as Bangkok, so this music could be heard for miles. Eventually we found the source of the music to be basically a night market with a massive stage that had people dressed up in bright clothes singing traditional Thai music- It sounded awful in my opinion but hey! We noticed that amongst the hundreds of people watching we were the only Westerners, which was a weird feeling.

We finally tired of the incessant yelling/singing of this bloke singing on stage and headed on a detour bak to the hostel. Young kids were coming out of houses to wave at us and started laughing when we smiled back at them-We were like celebrities/freaks?!?

Another thing we noticed was the amount of stray dogs around the city, theyve never felt threatening though, so its ok. We had some food at a place which was showing ArsenalvBolton- Because of the time difference it was midnight here! Found out Liverpool won aswell-woo hoo

Night night
