Flip-flops and the Pamirs don't go together according to some, but I say there is no better combination. And to prove the point I have been using them in abundance while I visited the region. Most people called me crazy and if I had died and instantly preserved I am sure I would have caused quite a conundrum to future archaeologists. I can imagine the conversation going on: 'We thought these were ... Read Full Entry

Kyrgistan!
So how did you/are you finding Kirggy? We've learnt a bit about it as Luna's friend Esme (you know, the one with your favourite croatian aunt!) used to live there and father goes there all the time so Luna approved of you going there!! lol!!! Also, we were watching Netherlands beat Uruguay tonight and at the start of the match, I said, look that's uncle Ralf's team. After a pause of a few minutes, she came back with me going, but I can't see uncle Ralf, he isn't playing there! It made me laugh. Still I'm sure it's a huge compliment that she thinks you play for the Oranje! Loving the blogs and the photos are stunning! But we miss you!! Besos, Ornella y Luna xxx

Dude, this is not the Wakhan. It is misleading to say so. All of these pictures are in Tajikistan, and not in the Wakhan corridor.

Wakhan Valley

The Wakhan corridor straddles the Tadjik-Afghan border. So I am not misleading anybody when I am stating these pictures are of the Wakhan corridor. They are, just not the Afghan side, and I don't claim they are from the Afghan side either.
