then, there's breakfast, which, is basically the same as lunch and dinner, but without dessert.

unless, hordes of fresh fruit count. 😊 and sweet yoghurt. oh, and as always, tea.

so hear ye hear ye veggies and vegans. come one come all.

*note: I have only gotten 'sick' once this entire trip, and it was my first meal in a fancy white people's resort (don't ask. planning mishap. the resort. not the poisoning.). anyways, turns out something subterranean in my sub-Mediterranean.

*note on local dessert: Wattalappan
when in rome...
one must try the local dessert, right?

and by try, I mean try at each and every dinner. and sometimes lunch.

now....considering I'm not an eggy, mushy type of person, I was uberimpressed.

it's called wattalappan (you see how ordering is fun in and of itself) one feels they have mastered sinhala for just 3 seconds...

it's an eggy mushy thing, with a slightly more crisp top, like a really fudgy brownie top - not always adorned by the peppermint.

yours truly has created a new dish - wattalappan, a la mode.

*doublenote: i've been pondering a bit about which comes first, the personality or the pepper?
...wondering if all that spice (let's put it this way, the indian on our team couldn't even manage all the time - I proudly out-spiced her!)..
...anyways does all that cartoon ears-on-fire hot stuff clear people of their past (both far distant and relatively new)..?
..or do they hide some pizazz under that cloak of serenity...?
...and, does eating mostly vegetarian with just some fish result in less violent people? or create more buddhists? well...considering sri lanka's under investigation for war crimes...more on that later.

treated myself to this dish of vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce at a world-famous hotel built by Geoffrey Bawa. Hotel design and the architecture of my sundae was more impressive than the cream itself. sad.

known for his naturalistic creations, i was diggin' this preposterously overpriced place. fact: the sri lankan cricket team was staying there during my brief visit. fact: don't worry, Yannic, i took tons more fotos fuer dich!

not after 800dpi of hot chilies. i was taking vanilla ice cream after every meal. but this one was by far the best...thanks, Brits!

FUN FACT
if one finds oneself without the proper adapter, simply stick key into 3rd hole in order to plug in your 2prong cord. thanks Info desk at Dubai airport. ps. dont try this at home.
