I am told spring is right around the corner and I must say that I can feel the difference as the warmer days are making their much appreciated appearance. I see the signs of the trees green buds and the cherry blossoms delicate flowers beginning to reveal their inner beauty. One day this past week I was able to take off my jacket on my journey to and from the subway. It was refreshing!
We have been experiencing the yellow dust which reminds me of the oak pollen in San Antonio. At this time the dust is not as heavy as the pollen, we will see as time progresses as to the increase in density.
Currently I am working on what I would claim to be a beginner Hanji Painting masterpiece. My plans are to have this completed by the end of my class on Monday. This one will be posted in my next blog.
Matt had an extremely busy work week and he still found time to take me out to dinner. We enjoyed the adventure of finding the NGrill within the Seoul Tour. We traveled by car and found ourselves to be an hour late, however, remained determined to
Handsome Hubby
Taken in NGrill at Seoul Tower find our way to the trolley. Our efforts paid off. The trolley ride was amazing, see the video. Our dinner was romantic and so delicious. This was an unexpected treat. I am so lucky! This is on my top 5 places to visit. I look forward to returning there on many more occasions. Hiking up the mountain and sightseeing would be fun. We are adding this to our list of things to do in the future.
Mrs. Moon and her sister-in-law agreed to allow me to tape their wonderful singing. Check out the video. In our class we are to learn this song so now I must practice. This class is soon to end and I so appreciate Mrs. Moon. I am going to miss her teachings and gentle spirit. This was a life changing moment in my chapter of transitions. This week we also learned how to make JapChae (transparent noodles with meat and vegetables), SanJeok with skewered meat and vegetables. It was yummy!!!
My shopping adventure to the commissary was just that. When loading the groceries into the cab I began to ponder just how I was going to manage to get all of my things from the
cab up to the apartment. I never cease to amaze myself by my drive to succeed at all costs. Anyway it was truly a funny adventure to say the least. I have posted a small clip to show you just how much I carried. Imagine a mop cramed under your armpit with a handled strap bag of groceries over the shoulder for the purpose of holding the mop in place, a small pull cart with 4 filled to the brim bags inside, 3 other plastic grocery bags in the other hand and a 12 pk of canned sodas. I asked our security guard to take a video. He does not understand English so this task was not easy. He kept turning the camera on and off, I giggle as I recall the taxi driver communication blog postings of stopping, going, stopping & going last week (yeogi, here-stop & cheogi, there-go). It took us 5 tapings to get the jist of what I was carrying. My poor knee just doesn't stand a chance. I definitely pay later for my physical determination.
Crystal came to pickup the last of her things as she moved into her new apartment. I am very excited
for her.
Overall I must say the week once again enlightened me. Blessed by many Koreans as I continue to practice my Korean speaking skills everywhere I go. The taxi drivers are the most fun even though I do not have the opportunity to ride in a taxi on a daily basis. They do get a kick out of hearing me try to pronounce the Korean words. It is such a blast to try to speak with Koreans no matter where I am.
I encourage you this week to take on a new challenge and share your results with me on FB. Hugs to all of you!

Looks like fun!
Karen, so glad the weather is turning - I'm sure the long cold winter has been a rough adjustment for the Texans! I am definitely not prepared for that part! Please tell your teachers I loved the song, especially the two different parts being sung together - will you be sending us a video of you and your classmates when you learn to sing it? ; ) The cable car ride looks beautiful - one of the things on my to-do list, along with hiking up Namsan (?) with the boys. Chandler says that Matt sent him an email about bringing his bike - hopefully we'll be able to find some good places to ride! I'm very impressed with your adjustment and your Korean skills - I guess I'd also better learn how to carry more groceries at one time! Lots of love and see you soon!
