Ten years on

And I still instinctively groan when I see people practising falungung, a kind of Chinese meditation that at some point in the past was interpreted by the Chinese goverment as a resistance movement, and subsequently banned. Dealing with the practitioners back in my policing days even in Singapore was always a bit of a sensitive problem. Looks like they've free rein here in Seoul though.

Apparently it was used in ancient days for sounding when the city gates were closing in the evenings.

Apparently this tree is over six hundred years old, and its magical properties include being able to grant wishes, written on the white ribbons tied there.

Aka Foreigner Street, first populated by the American troops stationed in Korea, it has become a lively foreigners enclave with boutique shops and restaurants.
