Cass - "the sound of vitality" Noraebanging
I know I said that I would write about our
Noraebang excursion a while ago, but I’ve been... well... lazy. It’s getting hot here too, but it’s not just the heat that’s annoying it’s the super high humidity. Most days the temperature is about 30 degrees Celsius but the humidity makes it feel between 36 and 38. Very very hot! The rainy season is supposed to go from July through August, so I think we’re in for a rough couple of months. It’s already started raining and you might think that the rain would relieve some of the humidity and maybe cool it down a bit, but you would be wrong, it was the opposite. We’ve started needing to use the air conditioning at night just so we don’t sweat to death in our sleep.
Well then, on to the good stuff...
Noraebang is awesome! Lots of fun! We went right after work a couple of Fridays ago. Two of the Korean teachers (the school is made of Korean and foreign teachers) took us out. We went to a place within stumbling distance from our house which was great and there were six of us: the
two Korean teachers, two South African teachers, and Scott and I. So, what is a Noraebang you might ask, well, it is awesome first of all, but more specifically it is a karaoke (Noraebang literally translates into singing room) that you rent out and order lots of drinks and food. The food was a bust, but the drinks were great! And the karaoke has thousands of songs, tons of English songs to choose from, and there are tambourines and microphones and big projectors. Wow. For all my ladies out there (yes I am talking about Mallory, Bojana, Beth, Nikol, Cheryl and my girl Dorina) you would flip your lid! It was so much fun! I think the pictures will speak for themselves, but really it was just a blast. You get to sing your favourite songs, hang out with great people and make a night of it. Truly it was some of the most fun I have had since coming here. And Scott was really good! After a few drinks he really showed his talent. Julie and Tim, you would be so proud.
😱 😱 😱
So that was our first night out and it was just a
blast. It was really nice to hang out with some of the people we work with outside of work and just let loose a bit and do some singing and dancing. The nightlife culture is very different here. There are no nightclubs, instead there are these places called “Hof” where you go and eat and drink, and then there are Noraebang where you sing and dance and drink. Not really much in between though. So anyways, get to the fun stuff and check out the hilarious pictures!

Canada Has Talent
I'm glad I'm following this blog; I might have missed your astonishing song (and tambourine) stylings. Korea has released your inner "recording artist". Before returning to Canada, please lock it up again. PLEASE! Looks like the two of you are having a blast! Continue to do so! Cheers! Bernie
