The lack of surf has been driving me crazy, and so I decided to go searching for waves elsewhere. I bought a flight to the Philippines for my summer vacation in the hope I might finally score some good surf. My friends were all heading to the Philippines too, but not to an area known for its surf, so I ditched them like the good friend I am, and made for a more surfy area. Who needs friends when y... WOW
Ok so when you talked about a tricycle totally didnt imagine what I saw in the pictures!! There massive! Think i literally expected a peddle bike with 3 wheels!! lol Glad to hear your all ok however I can completely understand how mental those things are, spent 3 months getting around Nigeria on a bike scariest moments of my life!! I love how friendly the locals are, was pretty similar in Nigeria, theres some funny videos on my facebook if you get chance to check them out of the kids on my walk to work everyday, they would also high five and scream white person and loads more kids would come out and hug me, everyday even though i passed the same spot for 3 months!! I do wonder if it would have continued a year on! Phillipines sounds incredible, looking for somewhere random and definitly not touristy next year to go, phillipines sounds like a good place so might bug you a bit later for more info however will avoid monsoon season!! Hope your having a great time and are you ever coming back?? I'm starting teaching in the UK in September hoping I can go abroad and teach for a while after! Take care and speak soon!!

Haha yeh I bet the kids didn't see white people as often where you were! I'd definitely recommend the Philippines though, you can go to the touristy spots if you want, but I don't think I saw a single foreigner for my first few days in the area I was, so you can definitely get away from the crowds! I don't think I'll be coming back for a while to be honest - I'll be travelling for the next year or so, might come back to visit for a bit but then thinking of going to work in New Zealand after...who knows! Hope your teaching goes well, you excited about it? What will you be teaching? x

And next time don't go in the middle of the monsoon season...
but glad to hear it all worked out and you had a positive attitude.

good to hear you made a visit
I didn't know there are surfing areas in Zambales. The more known ones are in La Union, Baler, and the surfing capital Siargao. The monsoon season is definitely not the best time, weather is pretty much unpredictable

Yeh it doesn't seem to be too well known for surfing. I didn't have much time though, and needed somewhere fairly close to Manila - and unfortunately the surf was flat at the time in Siargao!
