Tibet is definitely a dream destination for travelers and hikers around the world. However, it is not as simple as getting a visa and going there. Being a part of the People’s Republic of China, travelling to Tibet is more restrictive than any other destinations in the world. Although, it does not mean this destination is completely impossible to visit. Since independent travel is not permitted in the region,
Tibet tours and travels agency is your best bet if you are planning a tour to Tibet. They can help you with all the permits and necessary resources. It is only through the tour operator, you can have a Tibet Travel Permit and the other permits for getting into and around Tibet. But before you go on and book a particular touring agency there are a few things that you need to know about Tibet before you start your trip. Read on as I will be listing five of such factors that will surely help you enjoy your trip and choose the best travelling agency for you to arrange everything else. So, let’s get started.
Five Factors You Need To Keep In Mind Before You Pack Your Bags For Tibet: To explore the
mesmerizing beauty of Tibet, you need the guidance and assistance of a Tibet tours and travel agency. But there are a number of other factors to know about before you head on with your trip. Being located on the north side of the Himalayas, Tibet has a reputation as being a difficult place to travel to. Travelling to Tibet is quite easy, as long as you use the right travel company. So, here are 5 things to know before going to Tibet.
1. Travel to Tibet requires an organized tour As mentioned earlier, independent travel in Tibet is not permitted. Hence, all the foreign travelers planning to head on to Tibet must plan an organized tour that includes a private vehicle, a driver, Tibet travel permits, set travel itinerary and a tour guide. You need to keep in mind that there are no exceptions to these travel regulations. Only a travel company can assist you in getting to Tibet as they will take care of all arrangements and permits for you in Tibet. It is always advisable to contact a travel company at least 2 months before you plan to go to Tibet.
2. Group tours in Tibet are not required
One of the most frequently asked question and misconception on travel to Tibet is regarding group tours. Please note that group tours are not at all required when planning a trip to Tibet. You may find a lot of articles on the internet in every few weeks that state that group tours are required. However, all these are false. You are free to go to Tibet as a solo traveler or travel with your friends and family. However, group tours for Tibet can be a more economical way to visit the region. Since they have fixed dates and a fixed-itinerary, it may turn out to be a considerably cheaper trip than a private tour. But this also has some drawbacks. With a group tour, you cannot customize the travel route, you often cannot choose your own exact travel dates, you have to travel with people that you don’t know and you might have to share a hotel room with someone you don’t necessarily like. On the other hand, a private tour will give you much more freedom in these scenarios.
3. Tibet is closed each year during March Before you set the dates for your Tibet trip, make sure that you plan around the annual closure that takes place from mid February thru March. The exact starting date of this closure varies from year to year, but starts sometime between February 15 and February 20. The closure then lasts thru all of March, until very early April. This yearly closure is not new, but has been in place for over a decade. So, before you place a spot with a travelling agency, make sure to keep these dates in mind.
4. A tour to the Mount Everest: We all know that Mt. Everest lies along the Tibet—Nepal border. This enables the tourists to have an Everest Base Camp on each side. The Nepal side Everest base camp can only be reached by trekking and needless to say that this will be a one-of-a kind experience as the trek there is amazing. However, you cannot actually see the Mt Everest from the Nepal side base camp. On the other hand, the Tibet-side base camp can be reached by road from Lhasa and offers the tourists a spectacular, unobstructed view of the world’s highest peak.
5. Best times of year to visit Tibet: If you want to enjoy the best scenic beauty of Tibet then you need to choose the best time as it is very much crucial. Wrong season can mean clouded mountain views, large tourist crowds or frigid temperatures. However, according to experts, the best months to go to Tibet are from early April thru mid June and again from mid September thru the end of November. These months are generally dry and clear allowing for good mountain views. The temperatures during these months are also relatively mild.
Summary: So these are the factors that you need to keep in mind before you book a Tibet tour and travels agency. In the next post, I will be mentioning the factors that will help you find the best travelling agency that can definitely make your trip worth remembering.
