Morning in Dayang Morning in Dayang Morning in Dayang

the siao-on early morning diver after their shore dive bringing their gear up the pearly white sandy beach...
what a brilliant trip!

minibus from sunny cove dive centre to johor bahru 1.5 hours
ride from jb to mersing 3 hours
ferry from mersing to dayang 4.5 hours
reaching powdery white sandy beach of dayang....timeless!!!

the dving here is amazing...considering it's just a stone's throw from singapore😊 i managed to see new marine life i've not gotten so close to before.

particularly fascinating is the cuttlefish during the night dives - its technicolor dreamcoat is simply breath-taking in the waters. i can just spend many moments just watching it switch from a brown-spotted skin to an off-white almost translucent hue with luminous blue spots lining its edges as i gently tap its back with a pointer. This is one fantastic creature!

other surprises abound here in dayang/aur with plenty of turtle sightings, bumphead parrotfishes, morays of all shapes and sizes, stones, lions, scorpions, hermit crabs, boxer shrimps and an abundance of different kinds of nudibranchs...no luck with sharks though...maybe next time???managed to do 13 dives over 4 days quite comfortably.

accomodation at dayang bay resort's pretty basic. first night was in a 12-bunker room...hardly any privacy. 2nd night i decided to rough it out with

jason, kl and me on the jetty after a dive
jason on a hammock by the beach huddled in our jackets and sleeping bags. it turned out to be really therapeutic with the rhythmic lapping of the waves on the beach and the cool breeze caressing my face. 3rd and 4th night we moved to a 4-bedder, much better.

food wise, i'm impressed at the repertoire...especially the afternoon tea time desserts of red bean soup, barley and deep fried tapiocas...there's no complaints of insufficient good food here.

the island was much quieter after the usual weekenders left on sunday. much more conducive for contemplating life and getting all philosophical about the simple life haha. had plenty of time to write in my journal and "unwind" the knots in my mind while getting a nice tan on the hammock...

this has to be a 4d3n trip minimum...the usual packages from friday night to sunday evening are way too stressful considering the long journey. not worth doing just 5-6 dives and rushing home to start work on monday...that's a sure way to get a heart attack in no time haha!

my entire trip cost about S$420 coz of the longer stay but i reckon the diving only came up to about $20 per dive. that's really the lowest price i've ever dived at haha😊

will be back for more definitely!

take care of you
God bless
