I'm so sorry for those of you who have been waiting patiently and faithfully for our first entry to this blog. This is my first time online for 2 weeks and I feel like I've forgotten how to type.

Well, we are currently on the Perhentian Islands off the coast of Malaysia. It's all white sands and clear blue sea, like being in a catalogue photo. There are lots of little beaches everywhere and you can catch a boat taxi to each one for about £1. We were originally on the smaller Island (Kecil) on Long Beach which was more of your 'party island' but after drinking three bottles of their potent monkey juice between us one night we decided to opt for some peace and quiet on the bigger island (Besar). Here we've just been eating lots of BBQ and reading our books.

Before now we have seen some of Singapore (thank you Hayley for recommending the YMCA...it certainly is fun to stay there, the song is right!!) but we were only there fleetingly as we'll be back there at Christmas to do all the sights and have our Singapore Slings at Raffles (thank you Dave!) We saw Fort Canning which, those of you that know Hans, can understand that the little history boff was in his element...I do believe at one point he threw in the name of something before our tour guide could ;-)

From there we caught a bus to Kuala Lumpur, stayed in a lovely little hostel. Saw the Petronas Towers and Hans had his feet nibbled by fish at a local spa. If we pass back through I may give it a go but being so ticklish I could just see myself accidentally kicking all the fish and killing them.

From KL we passed through Kuantan briefly (but long enough to see their charmingly named shop 'Fook Yew'😉 on our way to Cherating. Usually a heaving surfers spot it seems we were a little out of season and it was like a ghost town. Still, what it lacked in people it made up for in mozzies as I got bitten 70 times in one night...they clearly worked as a team to achieve that!! Still, the beach was beautiful and we had some gorgeous local food (the hottest but tastiest Tom Yam soup) at a little cafe and the next night freshly caught fish. Yum! Hans also had some coconut rum in an extremely Del Boy-esque container...I will upload some photos shortly.

From Cherating we passed back through Kuantan to get to Kuala Terengganu and stayed in the luxury of a hotel with air con for one night, was heaven for my mozzie-bitten limbs! Not a lot to see here and it was only a fly in visit but we were opposite the mosque and arrived for their call to prayer. Had some unidentified but delicious local food.

From Kuala Terengannu we travelled to Kuala Besut which is where the water taxis take you to the islands...and is where we are now!!

I'd better get back to relaxing...jealous? :-)

WOW!!!!!
Hi Katie and Rob Glad that the first few weeks have went by and that you have not killed each other as yet! I am sure there is plenty time for that as you will both have to team up against the mozzies! Have you got a tan yet Roberto? We were going to make a nickname up for you here and call you "The Milkman"! lol So come back with a tan mate? £1 for a river taxi! That sounds fun. Have you tried the "snakes blood" yet? Come on Katie you can do better than Di caprio!!!!! Hope all is well. Brian
