Sape island
A small paradise close to Kota Kinabalu It is time for another small update from our experiences in Asia.
After fantastic experiences in the nature of Borneo, we finished off with two days in Kota Kinabalu. Once again we found the fantastic roti canai in the Indian restaurants. We had nice shopping centers, where we enjoyed a nice trip to the cinema in air condition. The movie “Side effect” is highly recommended. As an end to our Borneo chapter we had to make a visit to the Tunku Abdul Rahman Nationalpark which consists of a few idyllic islands with some decent snorkeling opportunities. On the beach we briefly gave a thought to the harsh Danish winter, but fortunately we soon came back to the reality.
After Borneo we had two days in Singapore. We find Singapore a great city. We enjoy walking around in the city center and look at the many modern buildings. The highlight was a trip up to the 56. Th floor in the Marina Sands Skypark. 200 meters above the sea we enjoyed a fantastic view to the skyline of Singapore and also could take in all the ships in the water. We stayed there for 2½ hours and watched the sunset
James Bond
Our second encounter with 007 and darkness falling over the city. In the dark it is impressive to see the lights on all the high-rise buildings. After this we enjoyed a meal of hawker food and a stroll along the river. Here we found many chic girls in beautiful dresses. The Danish girls could learn a thing or two in regard to fashion. However the Danish men can’t really learn anything.
On our second day we went for a walk on Orchard Road where you find amazingly beautiful shopping centers. We also made a visit to Little India where the scent of different spices kind of made us feel we were in a completely other part of the world rather than a mere 10 minutes from the center of Singapore.
After another great stay in Singapore we flew to Bali. It was a great revisit. Immediately you feel the distinct Balinese culture. The sounds, the scents and the visual impression, we are in love with “Island of the gods”. We had to spoil ourselves with a massage and had a fantastic dinner on the Charming restaurant in Sanur. We tried the wagyo beef for the first time. That was quite a treat. It
Bond babe
Also a bond babe or two were present felt like the meat literally melted in our mouths. Even quite a while after the steak was consumed, we still felt an oily feeling in our mouths. The beef comes from special bred cattle and have a rich content of omega 3 and omega 6 fat. So it’s got to be healthy. One could easily develop an addiction, which I unfortunate, because it isn’t the cheapest piece of meat, not even on Bali. On our second night we tried out the culinary delights on the Italian top class restaurant called Massimos. Christian had a great pepperoni pizza and Inge had the best piece of chicken ever.
Life is good.
