MACAU

We arrive to Macau from Hong Kong, and get stucked in the middle of a long queue with hundreds of chinese people waiting to cross the customs control. Teresa, from the tourism office of Macau, is waiting us. We are going to be the guests of the Tourism office of Macau because we are going publish some articles about the island
Teresa takes us to the hotel where we will stay the next
Macau
Opera cantonesa en Taipa 5 days: the Grand Emperor, an hotel catalogued as 3 stars that has the quality of 5 stars.
Once we arrive to the hotel, we cross the door flanked by two British "police officers" surrounded by dozens of Chinese people taking photos of themselves by their side while the fake soldiers try to hide a grimace of displeasure. We enter the Hall of the hotel, in which floor you can admire dozens of golden ingots and go to our room, bigger than Borja's flat in Hong Kong.
Here it begins our tour of 3 days for Macao, of hand of brilliant Teresa, a nice, happy and full of vitality woman who will be our compass in the island.
The island of Macao, today joined by bridges to Taipa and Coloane (pirates' former refuge), was a Portuguese "colony" (accession) for more than 450 years, until in 1990 it turned into one of two administrative special regions inside the Popular Republic of China. Today the spirit of the former Macau, with his churches and the calm lives of his inhabitants, fights not to die drowned by the increasing of gambling tourism. New immense casinos arise as mushrooms to compete with
Macau
Iglesia en Coloane the mythical casinos as the LISBOA (that has just constructed colossal Newly Lisbon).
Thousands of Chinese inhabitants cross every day the border to give free rein to their anxieties of gambling, even spending thousands of dollars. The humblest people remain hypnotized by the bright colours and lights of the slot machines and it is not rare to see groups of elderly retired, that with a glass replete with coins in hand, going of machine in machine while a worker of the casino explains to them of that the game consists. So much madness is understandable to a certain extent, since any type of game that implies bets is prohibited in China and already it is known that the prohibited always is a big tempation.
During the 6 days that we have been in Macao only the first day the Sun has honored us by his presence, the rest of days only clouds, fog and rains.... We are lucky to be present at a neighborhood Cantonese Opera in Taipa, which is celebrated in honor to the God Pak Tai, which according to the legend defied the Demond King and liberated the universe of his terror.
After

casino flotante visiting the rest of the island we return to Hong Kong, and to say Goodbye to Hong KOng we go out with Borja to the Balalaika bar where you can have a drink inside a room 20 degrees under zero .... tomorrow SHANGHAI Baby!
