Day 27 - Back on the bikes

Today we decided to rent bikes as we wanted to see the Blue Lagoon which is about 7km from the town, on the way to rent the bike we met two of the girls from tubing yesterday, Elisa and Edel. So they decided to join us.

So we got our bikes which were like a euro each for the day and we got a free map (it was hand drawn with alot of detail, not to scale) so off we went.

We had kinda shitty bikes but they did the job just about but what we didn't realise is that the road to the blue lagoon is on an incline, with more potholes (or mini lakes) then road also the road is made out of hard core not tarmac so it was very bumpy, not kind on your bottom 😞

There was a bridge that we had to cross and we had to pay a toll each way we tried to bargain the man down but he was having none of it 😊

So within 10 mins the sweat is actually pouring out of us, we pick possibly the hottest day of our trip so far to ride a bike up a mountain, we had to stop every time there was a tree to offer shade (there were very few trees) and it was really hard to peddle with the heat.

As we were cycling we saw a sign which we thought was going to say "Blue Lagoon" thinking we were really close, but no it said Blue Lagoon 5km we had only done about 2/3km and it felt like it took us forever to get there (it had been about 40 mins)! We were all like feck that it's too hot, so we turned around and headed back but this time going back down hill it felt like it only took 10 mins there was a lovely breeze and not much peddling so we were grand.

Had a bit of a cycle around VV went and "flew" around the airstrip (built during the Vietnam war but not in use now). And then had iced coffees in the bakery.

Back to the hotel showered (one of the nicest ever, after being so hot). Then met the boys for dinner, went to the bakery again got the nicest crispy chicken and then had an early night 😊
