a Squamish moment in Vang Vieng The ride to Vang Vieng is wonderful. It is a gradual, winding ascent into the hills.
Vang Vieng is a funny place. Kind of comes out of nowhere. One minute I am travelling through quaint dusty little Lao villages, next minute I am on the strip of shops, restaurants, guesthouses and booking agents that make up Vang Vieng.
The reasons for Vang Vieng are the caves, the river and the "scene." We spent a day wandering through some huge limestone caves and enjoying a swim in the river. Not sure I fully participated in the scene, but I had fun anyway.
There is definitely a weird TV thing going on in Vang Vieng. One restaurant shows back to back to back "Friends" episodes. The one across the street, "The Simpsons." While the one next door shows movies. The challenge becomes finding a restaurant that does not have a TV.
Also included are pics from the stunning and fun ride from Vang Vieng to Luang Prabang.

Holy crap. Those are gorgeous views. It was nice and sunny here today. Thankfully, because after arriving home in the grey yesterday I was tempted to swim back to Maui. Cheers sis. See you soon!
