The trip from Vientiane was a long bus ride up route 13, the trip taking a total of about 12 hours. many tourists with no connection with buddhism and hardly any knowledge of the religion. They are dressed up by hotels along the monks route and pretend they know whats going on

The fresh mahouts celebrate their first bath with their elephants - kinnda like when a kid is taking its first steps - we think

after a quick warm up whe headed straight to the river - and do notice, with no experienced mahout with us riding the elephant

we just wish we had time to stop and take out the big camera, but some times the phone camera must do the job

it is a very strange experience to drive through the world heritage villages in Laos along route 13, when the main road goes straight through the center of the world heritage area. At least people don't seem to care much
