Luang prabang

LUCH:
after sadly saying farewell to Pai, we flew from chiang mai over to laos, landing in luang prabang. id have to say luang prabang was my favourite place in laos and our first real taste of an authentic asian town. arriving at the airport it immediatly became clear that laos is definatly a big step backwrds from thailand. the people more relaxed, the feel of the place more rustic.

on the first day we went out to these absolutly amazing waterfalls. these were not just any old wterfalls... this was an amazing natural wonder of this world! it was surreal. i cant really explain them so try to understnd from the photos, although again the photos dont show thir true beauty.

the next couple of days we hired bicycles, cruised across the bridge and rode around the older side of town. we stoped at this little local cafe for breaky. the waitress spoke no english so (as i dont eat any other meat than fish) i ordered the only thing on the menu i was sure wouldnt have pork or beef in it - fish soup. as a newly fish- eater i got a pretty big shock when then brought me out a big bowl of broth with whole fish tails poking out at all angles. i didnt eat much of it was still a fun experience.

Luang prubang was amazing!
apn arrival into the city and wondering where it was we should leave our bags before exploring a loud cry of ''ÄUSTRALIA''!!! met us from the main drag. twas the NZ crew we met back in chang mai. Glad to hav found somewher to stay and some familier faces we made costumes and headied to a hallowen party! thus blossumed a true friendship with some lovely friends who we spent most of our days and nights with!

the waterfall as lucy mentioned was absolutley amazing not just to behold but also to immerse ourselves in. hundreds of sandstone pools flowing into each other and pure crystal water flowing like silk over the stone. we swam and relaxed hear for hours and then it rained.

the weather in luang was fairly poor considering our journey so far mostly overcast an d raining lightly so in this fine town we basically just explored the old downtown and made friends with the local children who loved playing rottenball, (probably not the correct name) sort of like soccer/volleyball with a bamboo ball over a small net. much fun and delicious food.
