Mekong River
Same kind of boat as we were on We left Vang Vieng and headed to Laung Prabang where we caught a long slow ferry up the Mekong River, for 2 days stopped halfway at a little town on the river and made it to Huay Xai, we had a day there before starting our Gibbon Experience so we went sapphire hunting. A tuk tuk driver took us out to some farmer and we panned for saphhires. Next day we had to drive 3 hours into the Bokeo Reserve and then we got told all bout the Gibbon Experience, pretty much its a village project that they are trying to conserve the forest from all the poachers and the Gibbon Experience money goes towards this project. They have ziplines everywhere through the canopy of the forest and there are treehouses, we had treehouse 2 (also known as the honeymoon suite) which is secluded and the village brings you meals 3 times a day to your treehouse, and each day you just chill out, trek, zip around. The longest zipline was to our treehouse which was 400m long and 150m high so it was a real rush!!! It was so cool, we had our own treehouse which had magnificent views over
mountains of pristine forest! The shower overlooks the forest, best shower in the world and at night you can hear the forest come alive with the sounds. And they have a friendly bear and monkeys and a cute Gibbon, so they were cool to play with!
