Karakol day out

So for a day off in Karakol at 1700m, I found bumpy road south towards China over a 3700m col. That Alps are fun, but Himalaya have it x2. So at check point at bottom, just show passport, say U'r tourist & go where U want.



Started with broken tarmack to gravel tracks, in some cases barely pushed flat across a gravel slide. Reducing tyre pressures made things go much better, 31/32psi, but really big horse fly found me in the 3min I stopped.



Up and back by 4pm, just another 220km on trip.

Where is the Glacier?
So can see milky white river of huge flow - fed from glacier. Well too much track for me with one bike, can see it scrape along side of river round corner.

Nice photo, but only 1m of telegraph pole sticks out!

Locals
These kiddies raced out of Yurt to wave, stopped, chat was hard, can see mum in red. Shame I forgot balloons - would have been nice, could swap for goat's eye recipe.

The kiddies live here at 2700m, all year - who knows?, where is school?

So maybe 6km away can see diagonal track up to col.
Will French hunting team in an old 4wd van still be stuck out of fuel on the track - nope they got to other side & then broke down.
