This is my favorite temple in Japan. During spring's cherry blossom viewing the grounds of this temple are beautifully decorated with pink cherry blossoms. They are even illuminated by pretty lanterns during the evening.

Maiko for a Day

A popular tourist activity in Kyoto is to be dressed as a maiko/geisha for the day. When you pay approximately $100 you can dress in beautiful kimono, have your hair and make up done, and walk around and take fun pictures for the day. A truly unique experience!

Ryoan-ji Garden

This is probably the most famous rock garden in Japan. Founded in 1450, there are 15 stones placed within the garden, but you can never see all 15 at once. It is considered quite the Zen master piece.

Yet another marketing wonder. I know that pictures of cigarette boxes are not very cultural, but when I see a pack of "Tabacoo & Nicotine-Free" smokes called "Ecstacy" I just have to take a picture.

Parental Supervision – could have been called – “Mom and Dad – Lost in Translation” – especially when it comes to ordering from the menu LOL ! (raw eggs anyone?) Thanks for putting our trip into words for us – it was such a whirlwind that it’s hard to remember everywhere we went. . I would have to say this is my most favourite Journal – because we got to go on the adventure too!
