With every passing experience in Japan I seem to learn something new about the culture. Last week as my friend Casey and I hitch hiked our way down to Nagasaki and Kumamoto we learned just how generous and kind Japanese people can be. With a 3-day weekend to entertain us, but limited spending funds, we decided our best bet for an adventure would be to hitch hike to our destination. DAY 1: ... Read Full Entry

Our sole purpose of visiting Kumamoto was to see the castle so I was pretty excited that we were able to make it to Kumamoto early enough to see it lit up, it definitly added to my excitment of seeing it the following morning.

Isaac was the best possible guide for this castle. He was born and raised in Kumamoto, so he had studied the history of the area numerous times.

Mrs Yamasaki was very kind. She was also quite eager to make English-speaking friends. I guess that's why she offered to drive us to a service area on a toll route... in the opposite direction of where she was going! LOL, she was a very nice lady (we exchanged e-mails), and we were grateful for her kindness.

The craziest guys ever!

These guys were a blast! Although they initially couldn't drive us due to a shortage of seat space they soon fixed that by "Rock, Paper, Scissor"-ing someone into the trunk! Haha! Casey and I obviously insisted that we could get another drive at first, but after realising what fun these guys were we couldn't turn down their offer. Funniest 2 hour car ride ever. If you think karaoke bars are fun, you should have been in this car! Hey Mickey your so fine, your so fine you blow my mind...
