Hi Everyone
After an unfortunate mishap on our way through HK transit security our cameras (video & still) were stolen. But that is another story. Arrived at our Tokyo hotel around midnight Japan time, rather exhausted after our somewhat stressful experince in HK.
Saturday was sunny but time was spent replacing the still camera (must have photos). Spent the afternoon in the Ginza area walking along the Chuo-Dori which is closed to all traffic Saturday afternoons and Sundays. Could have gone mad shopping but managed to restrain myself.
Now as this is the Cherry Blossom season our sightseeing so far consists of chasing the best cherry blossom displays. Sunday was spent first in the palace gardens which were a little disappointing, overcast skies did not help. We then went on a rather long walk around the outside of the palace grounds viewing beautiful avenues of cherry blossom trees. Literally thouands were out enjoying them either having picnics under the trees - really fascinating to see or like us just walking and enjoying the views.

Service from the hotel staff, taxis and the general public is quite amazing. They just so helpful and pleasant.

We are now in Kyoto for

2 nights, this afternoon walked around the palace gardens looking for more cherry blossoms. This evening went into the famous Gion area (Geisha area) and were lucky enough to see a true Geisha and of course some magnificent blossoms in full bloom.

Until next time
