The northwest of Bali where we spent the week between the 2 Jean-Pictet competitions is mountainous - many volcanos in the range

Palasari Catholic Church. Love the way the locals have added some HIndu-ness to the church - the umbrellas on the alter like you see at Hindu shrines and temples

One of countless (really - they were everywhere) gardens around the resort grounds. There were small shrines everywhere as well. Every morning you could watch the hotel staff making the flower offerings for the shrines

Our day-long temple tour out of our resort in northwest Bali took us into the mountains, cool and rainy - LOVED it; welcome change from the heat of Denpasar and the low-lands

We and 4 other units had a pool for our use only; there were 2 other larger pools, plus some bungalows all had their own pools

Ubiquitous festival street decorations. Twice a year the decorations are replaced, so sometimes shinier, but always present.

I got such a kick out of the variety of goods moved by scooter, so took quite a few photos

In the mornings it was common to see animal feed being taken to the fields

The northwest area of Bali is mountainous with far fewer people than the south and east. There are many volcanos in the mountain range - we could see one from our hotel and several from the snorkel boat

fond Bali memories!
thanks, as always, for the informative and lively reporting! I flashed on memories of my two visits to Bali, in 1990 and in 1993. I remember someone once explaining to me the scope of Indonesia...if a giant stood in Seattle and threw a clump of mud which splattered all the way to Miami, those 17,000 splatters would represent the Indonesian Archipelago Islands.
