Kolkata...
Kolkata was our first introduction to India as well..... There's nothing like jumping in at the deep end!!! :) Darjeeling was one of our highlights of India, although it was bloody cold... Wrap up warm! Safe travels...

Very cold!
The days in Darjeeling were amazing and the weather nice and warm but the nights...especially with barely any hot water!

Kali Temple
I too visited the Kali Temple and on walking through an archway, walked into clear view of a "sacrifice" - the headless kicking goat was an awful spectacle, and so too were the dogs slurping all the blood on the ground that had accumulated from the previous "sacrifices". Supposedly, sacrifices are prohibited, but instead I was informed that the goat is cooked and fed to the poor, thus it could not be termed a sacrifice. A highly questionable explanation if you ask me.
