What do you mean you don't know the purpose of this?
Today was spent generally gadding about. For some reason, the hotel wouldn't let me extend my room occupation by 4 hours for ready money - they wanted me to pay for an entire day, which obviously made no financial sense to me. So they ended up with an unoccupied room earning no money, and I ended up having to spend the hours between 10PM and 1AM sitting in the mosquito-infested reception. This is what happens when you have your stupidest train departure time yet - 1:45 in the morning.

Waiting at the station was even worse from a humidity and mosquito point of view and to enliven things further the train turned up an hour late. I'd decided to go 3AC on this one, but the headroom in this class is too little for someone my height, so lying down was the only option. Fortunately, at 2:45AM, lying down was something I was quite keen on doing anyway. And with my destination Kanyakumari being the end of the line, I knew there was no chance of missing my stop.
