After the craziness of Delhi, I was very happy to get to Pushkar, a little town South-West of Delhi, really nice place, quite quiet, perfect. I got the bus from Delhi, an overnight sleeper bus and luckily was helped by a guy from Pushkar who was also getting the bus, otherwise I think it would have been a lot harder to find the right bus in the traffic jam of huge buses that was the bus stop.
So go to Pushkar fine, stayed in the hotel of the guy who helped me, turned out to be a really nice place, with a big balcony outside the rooms which was great for sitting out at night with other people staying in the hotel. In the day it was pretty hot, I'd say about 30 degrees, so was just like being in Spain, Portugal etc. Spent the first day mostly asleep, didnt get much sleep on the bus the night before what with the bumpiness of the ride and the continual shouting of the indians on the bus. Next day I went for breakfast in the rooftop restaurant of a lakeside hotel, really nice views of the lake etc (see pictures). Got
New rituraj hotel
The view from my bedroom door in Pushkar, really nice big balcony area. talking with a couple from Aus who were really nice, spent most of the day wandering around the shops with them and then we went for dinner later in another rooftop restaurant and met a couple of girls from bournemouth who, it turned out, have strangely pretty much the exact same itinerary as me after India, so might end up meeting up with them again at some point. The next day in the morning I went up to a hindu temple on top of a big hill just outside Pushkar with the aus guy called ben and a russian guy from my guest house called Andre. Took about an hour to get to the top and the views were amazing.
Later on that day I got the public bus to Ajmer, which was an experience, and then the train to Udaipur which took about 6 hours. Ended up in a really nice hotel, big, clean room and a central location for Rs. 150/night (around 2 pounds) which is about what iv been paying most of the time. Arrived at about half 10 and went up for a cup of chai (indian tea) on the rooftop and chatted with all
Sikh Temple
A pretty grand Sikh temple on the way into Pushkar from my hotel. the indians who work there and met two girls from Spain who made us spanish omlette for breakfast, and have been bumming around with them for most of today.
Tonight I think we're going to get some drinks and go to the rooftop place which should be fun. Planning on taking a bus to a hill station called Mt. Abu tomorrow afternoon and stay there for a night, and then come back to Udaipur to get the train to Goa in a few days.
Havnt taken too many pictures but will upload the ones I have taken so far.
Having an amazing time, meeting loads of people, having lots of fun and loving the places and the sun!!
Will update in a few cities time.
