Well helloo there everyone!
Just in case you all thought we'd disappeared into the ether, we've finally found a computer with t'internet!!! Believe me this is harder than you might think in India...especially as we've been on a bus and tramping round fairly remote villages for the last few days!!!
But hey - we got here ok and began our travels in Delhi. Right...so Delhi is the most crowded busy, noisy and filthy place ive ever seen! Its an amzing mixture of ultra modern and almost medieval. It smells of wee though. Everyone just pees in the street. And the hotel stank of mothballs...there were even mothballs in the sink. God knows why...
So before we'd even been in Delhi for an hour we'd already been whisked off sightseeing, visiting a hindu temple and sikh gurdwara - way fun -did you know that hinduism has 330 million gods!!!! How do you even need that many!?! Learnt more in that afternoon than we ever did in RE lessons!!!
Also popped into the obligatory McDonalds that exist everywhere on this earth. They have security guards on the doors in Delhi...dunno why. Spose they think someones gonna nick a Mccurry
Steve with a headscarf!
Steve in the gurdwara, covering his head in a Sikh stylee! or something! But seriously, Ronald McDonald here wears a big red turban, and they actually serve McAloo burgers. Theyre a bit limited in their Mc cuisine in India as they dont eat beef here but u can still get a chicken burger or the good old Fillet o Fish. In an indian stylee...
Anyway - for the last few days we've been going through Rajasthan on a bus visiting remote villages where they r constantly trying to sell you anything and everything. We've stayed in some absolutley beautiful hotels one which was a converted old merchants house and another which was traditional huts in a posh style. Thought of you all as we sat round the pool sipping our drinks!!!
We are now in Jaipur - the capital of Rajasthan - getting a bit bored of curry now, although touch wood no ones got sick yet. Done all the touristy stuff so we're off to see a bollywood movie tonite!
The group we're travelling with are all nice people, but we're the only Brits! Theyre all American, Australian and Canadian! And apparently our Pommie accents crack them up and everyones decided Steve sounds like Jamie Oliver!!! wotever....
Merchants House Hotel
Beautiful 16th Century Merchant's Haweli or house which we stayed in. It was all painted and very beautiful. Tomorrow we're off tiger hunting on a safari in Rathambore National Park. We'd better see some tigers...gotta get up at 6.30 for it!!!
We'll update you when we find another computer...if we aint got eaten by tigers 😊
loads of love,
Rozi and Steve
