This morning, after not much sleep, we showered and met Hanh and Thanh for breakfast, it was a buffet with lots of choices. There was a variety of coffees and teas too. After filling up with food, we were able to go exploring the side streets which had local shops, some were still closed as we were early, but it was good just to get out and see what was around.
Today is the day we get to meet Rohit, Praviin's youngest son, who has been put in charge of organising our visit to India for the Wedding.
Manee also came with Rohit, she is Praviin's niece, and she has been organised to also help us with the Wedding outfits! We all travelled together to a market place called Graffar Market Beoper Mandal, a kind of street market, with hundreds of shops, street sellers, street food, and just thousands of people!
We visited 2 shops for dresses, with both Hanh and myself getting beautiful dresses. Both dresses needed to be slightly altered, so they will be delivered to us at our Hotel by Sunday night. We had half an hour or so by ourselves and managed to do some
bargaining for some pashmina scarfs.
Next stop was lunch and we were taken into a vegetarian restaurant, and food was ordered.
Manee ordered for us and luckily, we just had to eat!!! Food was plentiful and delicious.
Next, we travelled for 30 minutes or more to another market where both Clint and Thanh are to buy their wedding "dresses." Clint tried on a jacket in the first shop we went to, but we weren't able to take photos! We thought we would look elsewhere before buying for Clint so we went to the next shop where Thanh luckily found his straight away. Clint ended up getting his back at the first shop, having to get a slight adjustment on his too.
At this point, Rohit, Manee and our driver left as they needed to pick up more guests for the Wedding, so after collecting our bags from the car, we went back into the same market to explore. By this time, there were many people in the streets shopping, delivering goods, and our with their families. Some sellers had all their items to sell just on the ground so people can pick thru their stock. Tourist prices are high, you
need to barter for your bargains! We are lucky, now we have Hanh, she does all the bargaining!!! We had a lot of fun at this market, and now we all decided to get a tuc tuc back to the hotel to have some more fun. We made a deal with a driver and we now have no control... Well this driver had no idea where our hotel was, but he carried on, us hoping we were going to make it back in one piece!! The driver, I'm sure took us over all the bumps he could find in the backstreets! He missed a few turnoffs, but eventually we spotted the street we had walked down earlier this morning, so we asked to be dropped off so we could explore the shops. After spending some time wandering, we headed back to the hotel. We said our goodnights, then as we didn't have any dinner, we called upon Room Service. We had Chicken Tikka with some chutneys and just shared the dish.
I spent some time just trying to catch up with the Travelpod writing until I got too tired, then went to bed.
P,S - We are not posting photos
of our wedding dresses until the Wedding day!
