DelhiDelhiDelhi

laid back cow
A much greener Delhi than i remember greeted us when we arrived with a post monsoon stickyness to the 40 degree heat....everyone is going somewhere quickly and the animals weave in and out as we clamber down the allyways and avoid the stalkers and power cables. The rich live so closely to the poor and the contrast fills us with questions and the need for answers. The atmosphire is buzzing but oppressive and i'd forgotten just how dark Delhi is behind the scenes. We escaped the crowds and found Raj Ghat , a beautiful green park near the Gandhi Memorial museum and explored the history philosophy of his footprints, we then dived back in , buzzed around soaking up the city and prepared for the next leg of our trip..... up the country to Shimla by train, im so so exited about being in the mountains. We are talking lots about our feelings which is important as its such a wild mixture and im loving getting to know the girls better.......... Swadeshi was Gandhi's belief and principle he taught that we should buy goods locally even though it may cost more to support our local villagers/town/people and refuse to give into trading with other nations that has now brought some of the suffering to India due to trade with other nations, a fact that we cant change now but we can help at home with eachother...just a thought xxx

bhagat singh
hey hey catherine, so glad to hear all is well.... i am helping to organise a night in bristol soon, showing a film about Bhagat Singh...i was wondering if you had come across him whilst out there? check him out: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bhagat_Singh "The aim of life is no more to control the mind, but to develop it harmoniously; not to achieve salvation here after, but to make the best use of it here below; and not to realise truth, beauty and good only in contemplation, but also in the actual experience of daily life; social progress depends not upon the ennoblement of the few but on the enrichment of democracy; universal brotherhood can be achieved only when there is an equality of opportunity - of opportunity in the social, political and individual life." — from Bhagat Singh's prison diary

Flower in pic
Judging from the leaves, it looks like one of the accacias I think. Any one else have any ideas?
