I spent the day walking and biking around Fort Cochi, and attended a traditional dance show called Kathakali for the evening entertainment.

Hard to tell from the photo, but those tea cups are more like shot glasses, so I had to have 2. Tea usually comes sweet and milky.

Some makeup is self-applied, and some requires assistance. This involves pasting (rice-paste) pieces of specially cut paper to the face, perhaps to resemble a beard?

Kattakhali dance training is an intense study course (6 years), as is the accompanying music (also 6 years) and make-up (4 years).

This is not Kattakhali dance, this is a traditional dance from Andra Pradesh (another state), which involves wiggling on a brass plate while balancing a brass bowl on your head. Very impressive.
