Hi guys,
So not that much has happened since my last entry but I thought I woud keep you all (whoever is actually reading it) updated...
So after Bangalore, we got another Government bus to Kochi because there were no other buses once again...
On arrival we were taken by an autorickshaw to a really sweet family run hotel where we got a lovely room and slept all day....
When we awoke we decide to go into the town and check out this cafe that was recomended by the Gudebook and rumoured to have good cofee. It turned out to be an Art cafe displaying art of young India artists. It also did have great cofees, fresh cakes (including Chocolate!) and really good sandwiches. I was so happy to be in that environment as were the others....
Because of this treasure we had found, we ended up spending the next three days sitting at that cofee shop... (yes Im aware that this does not make for the most interesting reading but we were truly thrilled to find a place where we weren't concerned about the food)
Every night we have been going by the seaside
for dinner.... There are all these fish vendors who sell there catches of the day which you buy directly from them and then bring to a shack where they grill it for you... It's amazing.... So fresh and tasty....
On one of the many days spent sitting at the Art Cafe we met a very sweet girl from London who joined us for dinner. The following day we met up with her again at the Cafe and Tamara and I went with her to the Jewish area of Kochi (known as Jew Town). We walked around it's amazing antique shops which sell the most unbelievable Indian antiques with everything from massive ornately carved doors to beautiful portraits of maharajas.
Unfortunately we couldn't go to the Sinagogue as Tamara did not havge her shoulders covered... so we headed back and plan to go back another day...
The following day Tamara two other travellers who we've met, and I headed to Allepey in the hope of renting a house boat to travel along the backwaters.
On arrival we went to find a place to stay and ended up in the worst room we've stayed in so far... Because
it was so late we stayed the night. Tamara and I covered the bed with the silk sheet that I am traveling with as well as our sorongs and sleeping bags in order to make sure that we would not be in any sort of cantact with the sheets at any time....
The following mornig we headed off to try and find a House boat.... Unfortunately it was valentines day and so they were all aready booked... We managed to get one for the next day... We then went in search of a new hotel.... we found a really great one... In the room I found a copy of the first installment of Prousts a la recherche du temps perdu, which I have decided to take as a sign and am doing my best to get through it (we shall see)...
The following day we woke up and headed to the houseboat... We were welcomed with coconut juice and after droping our bags in the rooms, sailed off into the Backwaters.... They are truly breathtaking.... Palm tree lined and suruounded by the most lush feild and countrysides...
We ate extremely well while on board... The on board
chef was a star, as were the rest of the crew...
The following morning we headed back to Kochi where we met up with Gulliver who had decided to stay back in oder to collect his thoughts...
It wasd nice to be back in Kochi as it feels like a bit of a home base with great food and lovely people....
That day while sitting in the art cafe (surprise surprise) We were aproached by a man who asked us if we would be in a bolywood film/music video... We thought it could be quite a fun day and so agreed..
The following morning he picked us up and took us to the set... We were told to stand with a group of tourists who had also been recruited aand cheer as another tourist on a stage played on a drum set... It was boiling hot and Tamara and Gully decided that they had had enough and went to the art cafe... I decided to stay on where I chatted with a lovely parisian girl... We were then filmed dancing to some music in the blazing heat... We did this abot ten times and given a
break. I was fairly sure at this point that I had mad it into the film and decided to leave as did the frech girl... we headed back to the art cafe and read the rest of the day away....
That bring us to today.... not much has hapened so far apart from some cake eating and cofee drinking (are you seeing a patern?)
We are heading up to Varanassi soon which will be exciting...
Anyways thats all for now but I miss you all and would love to hear some news....
xxxx

Darling!!!! Ca a vraiment l'air super votre voyage! Groooosss bisous!!!!
