I woke up really early the next day to head over to Kowloon which is across from Hong Kong Island. I was heading for the Hong Kong history museum. Museum entry is free on a Wednesday which is cool. The museum did what it said on the tin and it was pretty interesting as obviously Hong Kong has a very varied history given it has been occupied by many different countries/empires at various times. The photos tell the story here. There were sheadloads of children there as well, but they were literally being walked around single file by their teachers haha. Very regimented.
After spending most of the morning at the museum I went to Tsim Sha Tsui and Nathan Road where all the shops are. As I left my watch at home I decided to buy another Tag Heur. Unfortunately this one is a fake but it is a damned good fake I tell you. Kowloon park is also around here which was cool. I also came across a lake with flamingoes in. How random. There are lots of green open areas in Hong Kong which I find cool given the lack of space to build etc.
In
the afternoon I went back across to Hong Kong Island to the area known as Admiralty, basically where the skyscrapers are. Admiralty is the eastern extension of central business district of the Central on the Hong Kong Island of Hong Kong. It is located on the eastern end of the Central and Western District, bordered by Wan Chai to the east and Victoria Harbour to the north. The name of Admiralty refers to the former Admiralty Dock in the area which housed a naval dockyard. The dock was later demolished when land was reclaimed and developed northward as the HMS Tamar naval base. I took a trip up to the 55th floor of the IFC building which is the largest building in Hong Kong. Unfortunately my camera battery died but as it was still foggy I didn't really get to see much. There are actually 88 floors but the public can only go to the 55th. Floor 88 is in the clouds, literally today.
That night I headed back to Lan Kwai Fong, where all the bars are. I thought I might as well head back to the bar I was in before as the people were cool and
it had a nice mix of foreign and hong kong people. I also saw my dream car, another Lamborghini, but this one had a cool number plate. Although probably not legal! There were some US guys there from a college in the US on a masters program. We all headed across to the bar opposite which was a Vodka Ice bar for a shot of vodka. I literally mean ice bar. You wear woolly coats as everything inside is made of ice. It is the cleanest air in Hong Kong. We soon headed back to the other bar and stayed there till closing. I should add that there is a really sweet Thai girl working there who was a master at getting people into the bar. I'll add she wasn't on shift when I first went there haha!. After the bar closed we headed on to a club down the road and I think it was about 5 when we left. Everyone knows I like a dance but there was a couple in there who were really good dancers and it was good to watch them do there thing. I also now have my first Hong Kong facebook friend who
I was chatting too.
I took a taxi back to the hotel and ended up watching the second half of the man utd game live at 6 am. I have taken it easy today and just wandered around Wan Chai. Tomorrow I will go upto Victoria Peek and then across to Kowloon to watch the light show at 8pm. Some of the pics need rotating but my time was running out so i will sort it next time.
