So after India we flew to Hong Kong for 3 nights.
Our room cost almost 10 times more than our rooms in India and was half the size, but we had hot water and a great cosy air con/duvet combination, which meant a great night's sleep! It was dead easy, and cheap, to get around and we felt completely at ease straight away.
After sorting out our visas for Vietnam (Jose - we ended up paying 500 HKD each to get them in 15 mins, rather than 300 HKD for 3 days which we didn't have) we headed for the peak tram and up to Victoria Peak. It was a hazy, smoggy day but the view from the top was still great. We also visited the botanical and zoological gardens on Hong Kong Island, strange as it's in the middle of all the high rise buildings but home to lots of monkeys, birds and a jaguar and is free to visit.
On Kowloon we went to the goldfish market, the bird garden (although we got there late so only really saw crickets for sale!), the flower market and the lovely and peaceful Kowloon Park.
We also saw
the nightly light show from both sides which was a bit 80s cheesy but a spectacle none the less.
On the whole we loved Hong Kong (although not so sure about the tank of live toads we saw in the fish section at the supermarket....) and David is already planning on going for the Hong Kong rugby 7s one year.....
Until next time,
The Millsys
