[youtube=NC6ahP2RcLY]I've always known silk came from silk worms, but I never thought before of just how that occurs. At the Beijing Silk Market we watched the steps it takes, from unraveling the individual silk threads from the cocoon to creating a silk blanket. It was amazing.

After pulling out the threads, they are soaked in water and then stretched over bamboo.

Jesse entertained our group by wearing the unprocessed silk on his head. Silk like this is both a natural cooling agent while also retaining heat, making it useful in both the winter and summer. Real silk is excellent for anyone suffering from allergies or asthma.
