Bing and I visited Xinjiang and traveled along the Silk Road route, tracing the places along the ancient path that Xuan Zang walked to India.

We love this pancake. People can carry this for one month while traveling on the road.

Afanti Statue
My generation grew up watching and enjoying witty stories about A-Fan-Ti. He rides his donkey and helps a lot of poor people to fight the rich. It is wonderful to see a statue of him on donkey in Urumqi.

Hotan in Xinjiang is the home of Hotan Jade. There are Jade stores all over Urumqi.

Pomegranate Juice Stand in Intl Bazaar
石榴 = pomegranate in Intl Bazaar. They make fresh juice, taste a bit sour. Cost 5-10RMB per cup.

Meeting friends from Seattle for dinner
We had dinner with Jaya in Urumqi. She studied in Univ of Washington international studies program. She is teaching English in Urumqi and studying Uyghur medicine in Urumqi. It is nice to meet a friend from far away.

Miraj resturant is a very nice resturant in Urumqi.
Jaya invited us and a few of her friend to have dinner here together. The resturant is very well decorated.
