First floor food-Second Floor MosqueAfter checking in, we wandered around and found this odd looking building, not sure if it was a restaurant or a mosques. Eventhough kabobs were being flamed outside, we decided on a place just around the corner.
kabobs for less than 1/7 of a dollar! We walked into a place with a few gutted lambs hanging by the door. Xiang Yi was unable to communicate with fellow Chinese as they speak Urghur and Mandarin with a VERY thick accent. In any case, we managed to order food. It was delicious!
we like our nature with some TVThis is the way Chinese people do nature, by either installing blinking lights or placing a gigantic tv screen inside a national park.
Tianchi LakeWe took a cable car up to the lake, and then we hike along marked trails. Lots of fresh snow, but no accidents to report--which is amazing considering how clumsy I am!
Xinjiang is famous for its dancingSince Tianchi lake has been upgrade to official tourist side (hence the tv screen), gers have been pushed back to make room for trinket shops and a stage where some locals dress up and perform some local dances.
Night Market in UrumqiWe had some kabobs and beer-AGAIN! Because China only has one time zone, it doesn't get dark here until 10:30 at night!
