Which road? The Silk Road to be precise. Xi'an is at its eastern end, and for the weary Silk Road traveller of yore it represented the last terminus of their journey. As it so happens it means the same for me today. Xi'an is at the end of this journey for me, my last stop in China before heading back home. Strangely enough, this isn't the first time it was the last stop in China. Back in 1993 i... Read Full Entry

Lindos!
What beautiful photos. I've missed some of the last few blogs in as much as Luna and I were backpacking around Peru and Ecuador! But I will hopefully catch up on them! Got back via Miami who lost our luggage and arrived home to BT having cut my phone off!!! Oh the fun of returning home!!! So after you get spoiled by your parents, does this mean we will be seeing you again? And hear of your tales first hand!!! Besos, Ornella y :Lunita xxxx

Amazing that Ralf, that every face is different. I didn't know that. And how many figurines are there ... what an attention to detail. I would love to see it. Have a nice time in Holland, hope you get spoilt but I am sure Mamma and Pappa will put you straight to work!!! Lots of love, Linn

The end of the road
Your Dudeness, Coming across your testimonial for TravelBlog I came here to read your story. Great stuff. Thanks for sharing. I'd love to drive to China one day. If His Dudeness needed a crew member to carry his hat, I'd be delighted to join. I'm an old Dude myself. Very old Dude actually. My respect. Baroness frankie-du-berry

Re: frankie du berry
I have lost my hat unfortunately but I have a backpack you may carry if you so wish :) Also I am not sure how appropriate it is for a Baroness to carry a backpack of a bum. Shouldn't it be the other way around? Problem with driving to China is that it is very expensive. Not the driving to China part, but getting your own car into China. They make it very difficult and very expensive (a guide required for instance for the time you spent in China). Au revoir, His Dudeness

The end of the road
Ralf, I have been following your amazing blogs on and off, and it is sad to see that your journey is coming to an end. Incidentally, mine is almost over as well in three weeks' time. Also, I also happen to be at the end of the road at the moment (and will name my next blog like that), the road in question being the Pan-American highway, that stops here in Panama and picks up again 150km further south after the Darien Gap. It was a pleasure reading your blogs, and I am looking forward to your next trip, whenever that may be. Ben
