Xi'an is one of the only cities left in China that has a complete city wall. It looks pretty impressive as you approach it, and around the outside are lots of parks where old people go to dance and do tai chi in the mornings. The other thing about the wall is that you can rent a bike for about 80 pence, and cycle around the 14km circumference.

Which is how we spent an otherwise very lazy Sunday. Three of us - me, Joe and Fiona - headed on up to the North Gate, got ourselves a tandem and a normal bike, and set off. It takes about 90 minutes, which isn't too bad, though we got a bit hot and sticky, as it was a glorious day. It gets a bit bumpy, and the wheels on all the bikes are a tad buckled, but it was graet, especially as all the Chinese people who passed us laughed and shouted "Ni hao" at us. Which just means 'hello', no one was being particularly mean that day!
