This view from the top in the fall shows the main gate as a little dot to the upper right of the pond in the centre of the picture.

Pretty much the same view except this time it's winter. We can only imagine how cold it must have been manning the wall in ancient times.

This is a view of the summit from the other side. We could have walked down from the top but weren't sure where we would end up and didn't want to have to climb back to the summit. So we took a walk around a smaller peak that took us to this spot. Of course, we then had to walk back (almost an hour each way). But at least it was our fall trip so the weather was nice and more importantly, it wasn't up hill!

This is another view from the top, this one looking towards North Korea.

As we were strolling along the river at the base of the hill where the Great Wall tower was located, we came across this North Korean farmer going about his daily activities. The border is pretty accessible but also well monitored.

These folks didn't let the fact that it was the middle of March and still pretty cold prevent them from having lunch outside. They was very impressed with Dianne's Chinese. They should get out more!
