Cute hassling girl!
Some cute kids came and hassled us when me and my flatmate were eating at a restaurant, they were very cute! I may aswell write a little bit about how my life is going in Zhangjiagang right now. It's going very nicely to be honest!
I'm about as busy as I'm going to be in my job and it is busy, but it's all very enjoyable. Teaching gets better and better and it's such a nice feeling to hear kids screaming your name when they come running up to you. Although sometimes that is a rather scary experience! Sometimes waiting for my Friday afternoon classes can be intimidating as the kids haven't arrived yet and the class should have started 5 minutes ago...Then you hear one voice screaming from downstairs...Then a few more...Then a lot more...Then you hear footsteps coming up the stairs...Then more footsteps...Then the screams get louder and louder and louder and LOUDER and then there's a mass of children running straight towards you!
Besides teaching I am still trying to make as much time as possible for studying Chinese. If I wasn't in China I don't think I'd be anywhere near this motivated, living in a country where you can't speak, listen, read or write is quite a motivation for learning the language. And it's nice to
be able to speak the amount of Chinese I do now, although I'd love to be able to speak more it's nice that I can translate for my friends now. I'm also trying to learn to write a few chinese characters a day, which I also find a pleasant experience. I don't think I'll have much use for writing chinese characters, but it's quite fun to do.
Eating is still an enjoyable experience, although I tried cooking and it's just not going to happen. I decided I should give up on cooking after I managed to burn something in the microwave which I thought was rather impressive. So I guess I'm just going to stick to the noodle bars and occasionally venture out to the more expensive places when other people are eating there.
Money is nice :D. I have been trying to be a cheapskate this month, but I have not really succeeded very well as everyday something expensive pops up. However, despite blasting half my wages on a Nintendo DS, I still have a mass of money left over that is more than enough for me to live on. I have about 800 kwai, which is
My new bedroom
I've recently moved to another apartment and so here is my new bedroom about 60 pounds, to last me for another 12 days, which in China is a rather huge amount of money. On top of that I have 2,000 kwai in savings, and that makes me happy :D. The fact that I don't drink means I live quite cheaply and I don't really splash money out on other worthless junk (often) so life is quite cheap.
Going out is sometimes fun and sometimes very anticlimatic. Last week I had a very fun night with a bunch of americans and my australian friend. This week I had one fun night in a bar with my australian friend and I spent most of the night flirting with some barmaid and it was just a very fun night! The barmaid annoyed me a bit the last time I went there though as she was very drunk and just blatantly flirting with me to get me to spend more money, but either way it's still a load of fun. However, I seem to spend too many nights going from bar to bar hoping for something exciting to happen, and then returning home feeling very disappointed. Just something exciting like go out dancing, meet some random
My memorobilia wall
A whole load of memories stuck on my wall to remind me of home :) girl and have some harmless fun or make a whole load of new friends. Most of the time I end up in bars where not a lot is going on, people have spent too much time drinking and are far too drunk to have fun. Or I am with a bunch of people and we are planning on going out and having a fun night, but instead it ends up with me ready to go out dancing or whatever and the other people aren't ready so have to drink until they are ready. But then they end up drinking too much and the night spirals downwards and they end up going home early because they are too tired, or again too drunk and so pass out or something. I'm pretty sure I have way more fun than the people who drink because I can go out and have fun without needing to prepare myself for it, whereas drinkers usually need to prepare themselves and then way too much time is spent doing that and it all ends badly.
Tomorrow I am going to Suzhou with most of the teachers, apart from one who has spent too much money on
My Nintendo DS
This brings me a lot of happiness :D drinking! I've been dying to go to Suzhou for quite a while so it should really cool. Lots of beautiful gardens and silk, so there shall be lots of photos from that tomorrow. That's all for now! Bye bye ah!
