Getting Ready for TakeoffGetting Ready for TakeoffGetting Ready for Takeoff

We are a little nervous I guess. (Flying across Siberia)
After 17 hours, we finally made it here. I know this is going to be quite an interesting experience. We are residing in Suzhou, which is about 1.5 hours from Shanghai. It has somewhere around 5 million people. Our boss, Joe, came to the airport to pick us up with his driver, Jin, and an administrative worker, Joyce. Jin was a quiet man with small stature dressed in a classy blazer. They picked us up in a new Buick car exactly like Grandma's. China isn't that different after all, I thought. Traffic was really scary on the ride home. There is a lot of lane changing, honking, and flashing of the brights. We were in a constant state of "almost accidents."

Very contemporary. I might as well lay on concrete though. The sofa isn't too livable.

Definitely not big. No washer. Hot water is not easily had. Ovens are non-existent. We are humans, we have adapted in difficult situations for thousands of years. I suppose Ely and I can do the same.

Our first friend, and fellow teacher. He is an interesting guy. More stories about him in the future I am sure.
