First few days on my own. Total CULTURE SHOCK :-O China is loud and bright and loud with trash on the street and loud! Spent most of the day in the hotel room adjusting to the new culture, and then it was time to leave for Shanghai, dunun dunun :-)

I was sitting in KFC waiting for a train and minding my own business at a two sitter table, with my bags on the other seat when a random guy asks to join me. I'm thinking, brave guy, sure lets chat! Ended up having an amazing chat with two amazing students

Sat with a family that you could see are part of the "newly wealthy" of China. Everything was new to them and you could see the excitement. But that was nothing compared to how happy they were discovering the way the seats worked. The cherry on top however was how excited when they found out we got free water and snacks for the trip. Great way to start an adventure :-)
