On arrival to our home for the next two weeks, the Sea View Hotel, we were shuffled into the dining hall where a small army of bright-eyed waitresses seated us at tables for twelve. I lost count of the total number of dishes, but I think twelve to fifteen would be a conservative guess. After dinner we were sent to our rooms- Goldilocks would have found the beds just right. They left out two small tubes of toothpaste (that looked frighteningly like superglue) that my roomate told me was translated "Black Hey!". He once saw a commercial on CCTV where a little girl was walking down the sidewalk with a handful of balloons, and lost one into a tree. A great shadow spread across the road, and a African-American basketball player no shorter than eleven feet tall came out of nowhere and helped pluck the balloon from the tree and give it back to the little girl. The commercial ended with the athlete giving the screen a thumbs up and a big smile. "Black Hey!"
